In the baseball world, including professional baseball, 100,000 wooden bats are consumed annually. The ash tree, which is the best material for bats, grows slowly and it is difficult to supply good quality wooden bats for a long period of time, so protection and cultivation is an issue. At Hyozaemon, we collect bats that are broken and can no longer be used (about 10,000 bats a year), develop and sell unique products such as chopsticks, and use the profits to plant trees at the NPO Aodamo Resource Development Association. We support activities. The chopsticks made in this chopsticks education class are also made of broken bat material. My chopsticks made by children may have been the bats used by my favorite professional baseball players. We will continue our activities so that we can contribute to resource conservation and pre-environmental conservation through the reuse of bats.
