Q & A

About manufacturing (painting / wood)

Q Is it okay for children to chew lacquer chopsticks?
Lacquer is a natural material, so it is safe to chew.
However, the current situation is that if even one drop of lacquer is mixed with synthetic paint, it can be labeled as "lacquer". We have established high safety standards in line with food products, and we have decided to use only pure lacquer [virgin lacquer], which is pure lacquer from undercoating to finishing, to make chopsticks.
Most children chew on the tip of the chopsticks, so we recommend Hyozaemon chopsticks, which are safe for children.
Q Please tell me the difference between lacquer and beeswax chopsticks.
Most lacquer chopsticks are called "suri lacquer technique", and the process of soaking lacquer in the wood and wiping it off is repeated. Lacquer has an antibacterial effect and is easy to remove oil, and the fine particles of lacquer make it a chopstick that is not slippery. Compared to expensive chopsticks such as Wakasa lacquer, which is made by applying lacquer many times and drying it, the lacquer gradually peels off and becomes whitish as it is used, but it is cheaper in terms of price.

Beeswax chopsticks are recommended for those who like the natural texture of wood, as the transparent beeswax keeps the color and grain of the wood alive.
It can also be used by people with very rare lacquer allergies.
Compared to lacquer, it is easier to peel off with daily use and washing with water, so please be aware that the color of the food will gradually soak into it. Beeswax is also used as a material for lipsticks.

Both lacquer and beeswax are natural materials that are safe for the body, so please purchase with confidence.
Q I have been using Hyozaemon's chopsticks for about a year. I'm worried that it has peeled off as a whole and has become whitish.
Our chopsticks have a lacquer finish on the tip of the chopsticks, with safety first.
Since the chopsticks are used every day, the lacquer on the tip of the chopsticks will be peeled off and the bare wood will be exposed due to various impacts (such as hitting teeth and tableware and rubbing when washing). Unlike chemical paints, natural lacquer-finished chopsticks can be repainted as if they were new, so we recommend that you repaint and use them for a long time.

Q Is it okay for children to chew beeswax chopsticks?
Beeswax is a natural material that is safe for the body.
Beeswax is a waxy substance secreted by honeybees when they build their nests, so it gradually peels off with daily use and washing with water. Beeswax is also used as a material for lipsticks, and we emphasize that it is safe to put in the mouth.
Most children chew on the tip of chopsticks, so we recommend chopsticks made from natural materials such as lacquer and beeswax.
Q Do beeswax chopsticks smell like beeswax?
Beeswax is almost colorless and transparent, but the smell of wax may be slightly felt by some people.
Please note.
Q I arrived looking for safe chopsticks. Please tell me the origin of the paint and wood used for chopsticks.
The main origins of the wood are Kaede in North America / Canada, Asunaro in Kiso / Around the Sea of Japan / Canada, and Ebony Rosewood in Indonesia / South Asia.
The origin of lacquer is China. The production of lacquer in Japan is overwhelmingly small, and most of it is used for the restoration and manufacture of temples and shrines and other works of art. Since the price is 8 to 10 times higher than that of Chinese lacquer, the undiluted solution of Chinese lacquer is refined in Japan and then refined in Japan.
Beeswax is made in Japan.
All the synthetic chemical paints such as urethane and acrylic used for decoration on the handles other than the chopstick tips are made in Japan.
Q Is the manufacturing location in Japan?

Depending on the chopsticks, some chopsticks are primary processed in Vietnam and final processed in Fukui Prefecture, the manufacturing headquarters.
Since the Vietnam factory is Hyozaemon's own factory, we manage and manufacture it under the same safety and technical standards as the manufacturing headquarters.
We also use the best materials procured from the manufacturing headquarters for wood and lacquer. Please feel free to purchase.
The product package is clearly marked with the "In-house integrated manufacturing primary processing: Vietnam / final processing: Japan" sticker.

About maintenance

Q The chopsticks I was asking for repainting arrived as clean as new.
I feel that it is darker than before, is it because of my mind?
We pay close attention to repainting, but the color of the finished product may change slightly depending on the color and texture of the material, the speed at which the lacquer dries depending on the season and humidity, and so on.
Please note that it is a natural material, and we hope you enjoy the texture.
Q I inadvertently broke one, can you sell just one?
of course.
We sell chopsticks that our customers like for a long time at half the price of one set. (* However, the color and size may differ slightly.)
In some cases, we also offer repairs to cut the unbroken chopsticks to the length of the broken chopsticks, so please feel free to contact us.
Depending on the sales floor, we may not be able to sell one bottle, so please contact us first.

About the product

Q I 'm not good at using chopsticks. I learned about Mr. Hyozaemon's orthodontic chopsticks and wrote about it as an opportunity to fix it.
Can an adult fix it?

In fact, our orthodontic chopsticks "Chopsticks" sell more for adults than for children.
"Chopsticks" only has the position where you put your thumb cut, and when you hold it, it looks the same as ordinary chopsticks.
The chopsticks have been fixed! Many people have said that, so we recommend that you practice patiently while being aware of how to hold it.

Q Do you have left-handed discipline chopsticks (chopsticks)?
Yes, there is.
At our company, we have a policy of valuing the tradition of serving chopsticks, which has been handed down from ancient times in Japan (it is a practice to hold chopsticks with your right hand based on the serving), and hold chopsticks with your right hand. We recommend that you have it. However, in recent years, the number of people holding chopsticks with their left hand is increasing, so we also offer left-handed "chopsticks". Please feel free to contact us.
Q I'm wondering if I should buy orthodontic chopsticks for my child, but what's the difference between Hyozaemon's orthodontic chopsticks?
Our orthodontic chopsticks have only the part where the thumb touches, so you do not forcibly fix your fingers, but you practice while being aware of the correct way to hold it. Therefore, the transition to ordinary chopsticks is very smooth.
It seems that some children have difficulty in switching from chopsticks with fluffy chopsticks to ordinary chopsticks.
Q I'm thinking of giving my child chopsticks.
Do you like chopsticks with a fluffy chopsticks, and what kind of chopsticks do you recommend?
First of all, we recommend that you measure the size of your child's hand and find the right size chopsticks.
Even if you don't have orthodontic chopsticks for the first time, if your family teaches you how to use chopsticks from scratch, you will be able to learn how to use chopsticks correctly.
The chopstick tips with lacquer finish are lacquer particles that are not slippery, and the chopstick tips with square tips are easy to pick up, which helps you to use chopsticks for the first time. In addition, children have a habit of chewing 100% chopsticks, so please give them chopsticks made of materials that are safe for your body.
After Q years, the chopsticks I used in the past have come to feel heavy. Do you have chopsticks for the elderly?
Yes, there is.
We have a variety of chopsticks recommended for elderly people, such as chopsticks with lacquer finish on light wood (mainly Asunaro) and chopsticks with non-slip dry lacquer on the tip of the chopsticks. The chopsticks with lacquer on the whole have fine particles of lacquer on both the handle and the tip of the chopsticks, which makes them hard to slip. It is also recommended for people.
In addition, the orthodontic chopsticks "Chopsticks" also have a dent in the part where you put your finger, making it easy to hold, so you can use it not only for orthodontics but also for everyday use.
Q My child is in 6th grade, but I can't find the right chopsticks for children, which are small, and for adults, which are still big.
In response to such requests, we offer several different sizes of chopsticks in 9 different sizes in 1cm increments.
These are simple chopsticks that you will never get tired of, so you can choose them as your child grows.

Q I'm looking at an online shop thinking of chopsticks as a gift for foreigners, but I'm at a loss because there are many types.
Please let me know if you have any recommendations.

If it's a gift for foreigners, I think chopsticks with Japanese colors and designs are good.
For example, we recommend traditional lacquered red chopsticks and chopsticks with cherry blossom and plum designs. In addition, the paulownia box gift, which is a set of chopsticks and furoshiki, is also popular.
Q I'm thinking of giving chopsticks as a gift. Will you be pleased?
Chopsticks are treated as "lucky things" because they are used for life-sustaining meals.
It is also very popular as a gift in the sense of passing a bridge (chopsticks) that connects people.
I don't think there are many households that don't use chopsticks, and since chopsticks aren't bulky, it's also attractive that they don't occupy the storage space of the recipient.

About service

Q I would like to order a large number of wedding gifts. Can I send them with a gift?
Yes, of course.
We accept packaging and Noshi wrapping free of charge, so please feel free to tell us. We will also attach a number of paper bags. The delivery time is about 2 weeks depending on the stock status and the desired number.
Q I would like to give a name-filled chopsticks to a foreign friend.

It is highly recommended because it will be the only chopstick in the world if you put your name on it.
Usually, people put their names in capital letters of the alphabet, but you can also dare to put your name in kanji (Daniel = Taijineru, etc.) or hiragana or katakana to make Japanese chopsticks. I think.
